On the Arizona Coyotes and Shane Doan …
Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: Shane Doan was asked several times this week about the possibility of waiving his no-movement clause for opportunity to play for a Cup contender. He’s thought about it in past seasons, but decided to stay.
This past summer contract talks dragged on and he took a significant pay cut. The Coyotes are at the bottom of their conference and his ice time is down. Doan being a bit unhappy is understandable.
“I think that I’m a player that plays better when I’m emotionally invested in a game,” Doan told Burns and Gambo Wednesday on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “It’s a different situation now. I have to create my emotion now. The team is on the outside looking in.”
The Coyotes haven’t received any trade calls on Doan, and GM John Chayka hasn’t made any calls. Doan’s agent hasn’t sought out an potential trades yet. They are awaiting Doan’s decision on what he’d like to do.

Adam Green of Arizona Sports: Coyotes GM John Chayka on Shane Doan’s comments this week that it would have to be a perfect fit for him to waive his no-trade clause.
“Like anything, I think it’s more being made of it than maybe there is to it, but at the same time, I think Shane came out and basically said that it’s not something that he hasn’t looked at in the past, when you know you’ve got a team that isn’t winning like we are,” he told Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Wednesday morning. “For Shane, I think, just like any player, he wants to play in the playoffs and he wants to win a Stanley Cup.
“But, if you listen to what he said, he’s looking for kind of that perfect spot; that may or may not exist. We signed Shane to be a Coyote and certainly we want him to be here and that’s the plan, but at the same time, I respect him so much that if he ever came to me with an idea, I would certainly listen to him and we’d have that discussion.”
