NHL Rumors: Senators, Canadiens, Avs, Flames, Blackhawks, Red Wings and Blues
Are the Montreal Canadiens front-runners for Matt Duchene now?
On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch: Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion was on TSN 1200 this morning and said that he’s trying to add a forward today. Dorion added that he’s been active for the “last few days.”

John Rodenburg: Dorion added that there is a “49 percent chance” that they will be able to add a forward today.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Jimmy Murphy: There was lots of talk yesterday that the Montreal Canadiens have become front-runners for a potential trade with the Colorado Avalanche for Matt Duchene. If they are able to work out a deal, sounds like Alex Galchenyuk could be part of the package.

On the Calgary Flames …

Rick Dhaliwal: Have been hearing that the Calgary Flames could be looking to trade forward Troy Brouwer. Not confirmed but was something heard.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Scott Powers: Sources are saying that the NHL has let the Blackhawks know that they will be allowed to place Marian Hossa on the LTIR.

Jason Brough: Can expect the Blackhawks to sign defenseman Cody Franson once the Blackhawks place Hossa on the LTIR.

Bob McKenzie: Though not 100 percent certain, seems likely that the Blackhawks will eventually sign Cody Franson and Alex Chiasson.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Aivis Kalnins: Multiple sources are saying that there has been no progress between the Detroit Red Wings and  Andreas Athanasiou on a new contract. The Red Wings are holding firm on their two-year, $1.9 million per year offer.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Pierre LeBrun: Believe that the St. Louis Blues offer to Jaromir Jagr was similar to the one-year $1 million plus $1 million in bonuses he signed with the Calgary Flames.

Pierre LeBrun: Blues GM Doug Armstrong that he, Martin Brodeur and Mike Yeo all talked to Jagr on the weekend when they made him a contract offer.
