On Scouting the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks …

Dave Isaac: Teams listed to attend the Flyers – Sharks game: Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders, Vegas Golden Knights, Winnipeg Jets and Detroit Red Wings.

On the Vegas Golden Knights …

Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal: Vegas had been hoping to get their final expansion payment in by the trade deadline, but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. Owner Bill Foley said that payment would be made the first week of March and GM George McPhee would then be able to attend the GM meetings that start on March 6th.

“It’s going to be complicated for us to do it by the 28th because of all the legal documents that we’re doing with the NHL that still have to be completed,” Foley said. “We’re still negotiating a few points. But the money will be ready around the 25th or 26th, so if we can get all the legal paperwork finished, we may be able to move it up.”

On the St. Louis Blues …

Pierre LeBrun of TSN:  Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk will likely be traded by the deadline. The Blues can’t afford to lose him for nothing like they did with David Backes and Troy Brouwer last year. The Blues aren’t in a position like they were last year.

Shattenkirk has the opportunity to test the open market for the first time, so he wants to see what his option are.

The UFA market is thin on the blueline this year, so he will get paid.

The New York Rangers and Boston Bruins are among the teams that are thought to be interested in trading for him at by the deadline.
