NHL Rumors: Scouting OTT-MON, Red Wings, Capitals, and Lightning
The Washington Capitals have already been linked to Mike Green, and it wouldn't be a surprise if the Tampa Bay Lightning are interested.
Scouting the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens …

Eric Engels: Scouts listed to attend yesterday’s Senators-Canadiens game: Calgary Flames (2), Columbus Blue Jackets (2), Arizona Coyotes (2), New York Islanders, Nashville Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Winnipeg Jets, and the Dallas Stars.

On Lou Lamoriello and scouting lists …

Tom Gulitti: “Funny story about the scouts list. Lamoriello knows media (and others) watch them. So with Devils, if he sent a scout somewhere to watch someone, they’d buy a ticket and sit in stands.”

On the Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, and Tampa Bay Lightning …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman was on 630 CHED and was talking about Detroit Red Wings, pending UFA defenseman Mike Green, and some other potential moves.

said that the Washington Capitals were asking about Green during the All-Star game. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Tampa Bay Lightning were also looking at him.

“They’ve tried to move Tatar and Nyquist for a couple of years now. They’ve been on and off the market, and I do think they’re looking at that again.”

adds that they’d move one of Petr Mrazek or Jimmy Howard if the price was right. They had been talking with the Oilers earlier this season about Mrazek.

Friedman later in the conversation touches on the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“I’m really curious what they’re going to do,” said Friedman. “Yzerman and them, they’re in it to win it. I wonder about them, like would they pull off a big move down the stretch to add another defenseman. He can do it. He’s got a lot of assets. You watch some of those guys… that Peca kid was a seventh-rounder – he looks like a player. And Yanni Gourde, he’s a player.

“I’m looking at them, and I’m saying, ‘Okay, they’ve got a lot of assets. I’m really curious to see what he could do.”
