NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings
San Jose Sharks close to trading for Vancouver Canucks Jannik Hansen

On the San Jose Sharks …

Pierre LeBrun: Hearing that the Sharks are close to trading for Canucks forward Jannik Hansen.

Mark Purdy of the San Jose Mercury News: Sharks GM Doug Wilson has a history of making deadline moves. Wilson may look to acquire a veteran, scoring winger or a veteran backup goalie. Purdy doesn’t see Wilson adding a goalie.

If Wilson is going to trade assets, it should be for scoring over goaltending.

There was a report from that the Sharks could be looking Ryan Miller.

Renaud Lavoie: The Canucks could trade Ryan Miller. The Flames and Sharks are two teams that are looking for a goalie.

Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News: Wouldn’t think the cost to acquire Miller would be that high.

Jannik Hansen has a year left on his deal at $2.5 million could be an option the Sharks. He does have a modified no-trade clause.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Eric Engels: The Canadiens have the salary cap space to add a $5 million player at the deadline.

Dennis Bernstein: Think that the Desharnais trade is a move before they bring in another center.

David Pagnotta: Talks of talk out of Montreal. They are looking for a forward, and it may not be a rental. Alexei Emelin has a 10-team no-trade list. Nathan Beaulieu will be an RFA at the end of the season.

Habs Links: Pierre LeBrun on TSN 690: “I think Bergevin absolutely wants to make another move before the deadline tomorrow.”

Habs Links: LeBrun: “I know from talking to other teams that (Bergevin) is among the more active guys right now.”

On the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens …

Kevin Weekes: The Red Wings held Steve Ott out of last night’s game. The Montreal Canadiens could be one of the teams interested.
