Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The Penguins are finding out it’s difficult to have two No. 1 goalies and it hasn’t worked out as they had hoped.

“Despite the fact I like having the two top goalies, it’s difficult when both goalies are used to playing the majority of the games,” general manager Jim Rutherford said Monday. “You get into weeks where they’re splitting and going every other game. That hasn’t worked, at this point, as well as I thought it would.”

With the expansion draft in June, Rutherford still has time to decide on who they will move forward with – Marc-Andre Fleury or Matt Murray.

“I don’t feel urgency ,” Rutherford said, adding that, “it is one area I’m probably looking at the most right now, as to how that works.”

Fleury just turned 32-years old and carries a no-movement clause. The Penguins could ask him to waive it for the expansion draft. There has been no indication that they have asked him about it.

Rutherford wouldn’t say if any team has contacted him about Fleury or Murray.

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie on TSN 690 talking about if the Pittsburgh Penguins will trade Marc-Andre Fleury before the trade deadline.

“It’s possible,” allowed McKenzie. “More so now than I would have said at the beginning of the season. I think at the beginning of the season Jim Rutherford’s attitude was ‘Let’s be very patient here. Let’s see how this plays out. Let’s see if the health of both goalies is maintained.’

“And obviously Murray was injured, and for awhile Fleury was the go-to guy and was actually playing pretty well. So they were thankful that they didn’t make a move too soon with him. But obviously now that Murray is back and playing well, and Fleury is not playing particularly well, I think Jim Rutherford can see that this is maybe not a situation that’s going to be a positive.”
