John Boruk: Goaltender Michal Neuvirth suffered a lower-body injury and left today’s game.
Frank Seravalli: Helene St. James reported that the Detroit Red Wings had offered goaltender Petr Mrazek to the Philadelphia Flyers for a third-round draft pick. The Flyers decline. wonders if that changes with Neuvirth’s injury.
John Boruk: If the Flyers wait another five or six days the Red Wings asking price for Mrazek could drop to a fourth or fifth-round pick. The Flyers have two fifth-round picks this year.
On the Anaheim Ducks …
Eric Stephens of The OC Register: Ducks GM Bob Murray doesn’t plan on making a move for the sake of making a move. He said there is no rule that says they “have to go out and do something at the deadline.”
“I’m not a rental fan. I’ve never been a rental fan. The last couple of things we’ve done, I’ve ended up signing the guys because we’ve liked them. But are there things out there? Apparently. I know what’s out there. I know the price tags teams are asking for right now. And I’m not interested.”
Scoring wingers that are available include Sabres Evander Kane, Rangers Rick Nash and Michael Grabner, Canadiens Max Pacioretty and Senators Mike Hoffman.
Defensemen like Blue Jackets Jack Johnson, Red Wings Mike Green, and Rangers Nick Holden could be available.
The asking prices for players are too high – first rounders, young NHL roster players, and a top prospect.
“These pricetags, it’s ridiculous,” Murray said. “And the pricetags just seem to keep going up every year. Whatever. Maybe it will get there, maybe it won’t. Time will tell. There’s still enough days left.”
