NHL Rumors: Penguins, Red Wings and Canucks
Vancouver Canucks forwards Bo Horvat and Henrik Sedin
On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Aivis Kalnins: Have heard that the Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the front runners for Danis Zaripov.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Craig Custance of The Athletic Detroit: From an interview with Detroit Red Wings assistant GM Kris Draper on the Red Wings negotiations with RFA Andreas Athanasiou.

“I know Ken has talked to his agent. They want to get a deal done. If you have two sides willing to get a deal, then I think you’re going to find a way to get a deal done. In a negotiation, both sides have to give a little. Nobody is ever really happy in a negotiation. We’re going to pay a little bit more. They’re going to take a little less. That’s why it’s called a negotiation.”

On the Vancouver Canucks …

NHL.com: Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning said that they won’t ask Henrik and Daniel Sedin – who are entering the final season of their four-year contracts – to waive their no-trade clauses.

“We’re not moving the Sedins unless they come to me at some point and they say, ‘Well, we want to move on,'” Benning told Sportsnet 650 in Vancouver. “When we’ve talked to them, we’re not going to go to them and ask them to waive their no-trade. We’re not going to approach them for them to move on to another team.”

Benning said they haven’t gotten to the point of offering them a contract beyond this season. He added that when he spoke with the Sedin’s, they said they wanted to see how they feel and play this year, as well as how the team plays.

Benning on contract talks with RFA Bo Horvat.

“It’s going well,” Benning said of contract negotiations. “Hopefully, we can get it done here in the next week. … We made some progress last week, and hopefully this is the week we can get it done.”
