NHL Rumors: Penguins, Canucks, Kings, Flames, Jets, and Coyotes
Ryan Miller of the Vancouver Canucks and Anze Kopitar LA Kings
On the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, LA Kings and the Calgary Flames …

Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News: The Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning are in a similar situation. They have an established goalie (Marc-Andre Fleury and Ben Bishop) and their goalies of the future signed to a three-year extensions (Matt Murray and Andrei Vasilevskiy).

Would think that at some point, the veteran will have to go. There is no way the Penguins would have Murray exposed for the expansion draft.

So Bishop and Fleury could be on the trade market at some point before the draft. Ryan Miller could be another goalie to hit the market this year. Miller is in the last year of his deal and Jacob Markstrom is ready to take over for the Canucks.

Would the LA Kings be interested in Miller? Miller’s salary cap number of $6 million is an issue though.

Have to wonder how long it is before Chad Johnson takes over for Brian Elliott in Calgary.

On the Winnipeg Jets, Arizona Coyotes and the LA Kings …

Craig Custance of ESPN: Teams have already called the Winnipeg Jets about the price to acquire Ondrej Pavelec. It is more of teams tiring kicking and checking in. They are not close to anything.

“You could probably get him at half price and you get somebody who has been in the league,” said one Western Conference executive this week.

Pavelec at half price would put his cap hit at $1.95 million for the pending UFA. Pavelec’s salary is at $4.75 million, with cap hit at $3.9 million.

Source saying the Arizona Coyotes aren’t looking for a goalie and are hopeful that Mike Smith‘s injury isn’t serious. The Los Angles Kings are close to the cap ceiling and expected to be patient

“I don’t think there’s any panic there yet,” said one source of the Kings.
