NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators – Lazar, White, Pyatt and Condon
Mike Condon and Curtis Lazar

On the Ottawa Senators, Curtis Lazar, Colin White, Tom Pyatt and Mike Condon …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Uncertainty has surrounded the eventual fate of Curtis Lazar but it appears GM Pierre Dorion wants to keep him in Ottawa.

“Curtis having mono, going to (Binghamton) and being a bit behind the eight-ball since the start of the year, he probably hasn’t found his niche with our team. Now he’s getting a really good opportunity and hopefully he can keep on improving his minutes, but it’s going to be up to him. Definitely last night was a sign in the right direction.”

Garrioch notes that the general manager made it clear of his intentions. He believed it was gutsy for Lazar’s agent to meet with Dorion. It will ultimately be up to the forward whether his role increases or not. The former junior team captain will determine his fate in Ottawa.

Darren Dreger of TSN: It is obvious that Ottawa’s general manager does not want to move Lazar unless it becomes necessary.

Dreger says that the cost of a top six forward is likely too much for Ottawa to afford at the moment. Rental players are more of a possibility than anything else. Ottawa does not want to give up the assets needed. They will not move players like Lazar, etc.

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa CitizenPierre Dorion is waiting on Colin White but that is far from the only player the general manager is in talks with. Or is he?

Garrioch mentions that White would be hard to bring in during Ottawa’s run for a playoff spot. Furthermore, they cannot talk to the player until Boston College’s season is over. The practical reason is that Dorion does not want to burn a year off White’s contract.

All other talks have been held off until after March 1st trade deadline. That includes Tom Pyatt and Mike Condon.
