NHL Rumors: O’Reilly, Doan, Oilers, Wild and Sabres
  • Nick Groke of Denver Post: Ryan O’Reilly’s name continues to come up in trade speculation. When asked about it.

“You know, I…” O’Reilly said, before stopping and sighing and changing course.

“I couldn’t care less. Knowing where we are, and how we’re playing, all that matters is tomorrow’s game and winning that game. And I’m not worried about anything else.”

Given their past contract negotiation issues, he stands out as a trade candidate. His talent will have many teams interested.

“You never know what they’re planning,” O’Reilly said last week. “For me personally, I can’t control any of that. It’s just my play.”

Interested teams could include the Canadiens, Maple Leafs and Jets. The Avs would be looking for some defensive help in return.

  • Jim Matheson of Edmonton Journal: Coyotes GM Don Maloney may approach Shane Doan if a contender calls for him. Doan has one-year left at $5 million, which might complicate things. Matheson doesn’t think they’ll move Doan, but could move out pending UFAs Antoine Vermette and Martin Erat.
  • Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet: The Oilers don’t appear to have anything imminent. Jeff Petry could be one of the next players they deal. The Sabres and Wild both deny trade rumors involving Jhonas Enroth.
