Lisa Dillman of NHL.com: The Oilers are looking to be buyers this year at the deadline. GM Peter Chiarelli isn’t looking to give up lots of young assets for rentals. Chiarelli is looking for a centerman, right winger and a backup goaltender.

The Oilers could look at pending UFA Michal Neuvirth or Jaroslav Halak, who has one year left on his deal at $4.5 million.

Brian Boyle has been tied to the Oilers. Jarome Iginla might be another option they consider.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post: Forward Andre Burakovsky is out until at least mid-March with a hand injury. The Capitals will get a look at their depth up front leading up to next weeks trade deadline.

Zach Sanford is getting a shot on the third line, and his play in the past three games is why they may not need to make a trade at the deadline.
