NHL Rumors: Oilers and Avs with a little Ducks, Bruins, Islanders and Leafs
At one point the Toronto Maple Leafs were interested in Tyson Barrie
On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Oilers pending unrestricted free agent forward Patrick Maroon wants to remain with the Oilers, but GM Peter Chiarelli will be looking to sell at the NHL trade deadline.

Fellow pending UFA Mark Letestu will also draw some interest.

There has been some contract talks between the Oilers and Maroon, but nothing appears to be on the front-burner. Talk might have been a three- or four-year deal in the $3.75 million to $4.5 million range.

“You know the situation I’m in,” said Maroon. “But I’m an Edmonton Oiler, I want to stay here. I love this city, the fans, this group of guys. I think my teammates know that.”

If the Oilers look to move Maroon, they’ll likely be looking for a younger prospect winger or someone that can play now – not a draft pick. Would the Anaheim Ducks be interested in re-acquiring him?

The Bruins are looking for a top-six winger, but more on the right side and not on the left which Maroon plays.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman, and Jeff Marek on the 31 Thoughts: The Podcast on the Colorado Avalanche and what the future might hold for defenseman Tyson Barrie.

“The one thing about Barrie is I could see – if I’m the New York Islanders and you need a puck-moving D, is he not a guy you’re looking at right now?”

Marek added: “The Leafs tried to make a move in the summer, did they not?”

“The Leafs have had interest in Tyson Barrie before,” indicated Friedman. “There’s no question about that. I don’t know if it was this summer or a year ago.

“But I do think there are going to be teams that ask Colorado, ‘What are you doing with Tyson Barrie here.’ “
