NHL Rumors: Oilers, Ducks, Devils, and Canadiens
Montreal Canadiens let teams know that Brandon Davidson is available for trade
On the Edmonton Oilers …

Mark Spector: Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli has let teams know that forward Iiro Pakerinen is available for trade.

On the Anaheim Ducks and New Jersey Devils …

Darren Dreger: The Ducks and Devils had been having trade talks for the past ten days.

Pierre LeBrun: The Devils have first looked at Sami Vatanen before the expansion draft, but the Ducks made the Shea Theodore trade with Vegas. Trade talks had died down. The Ducks were interested in Matt Duchene, but when they lost out on him, talks between the Devils and Ducks picked up again.

Eric Stephens: Ducks GM Bob Murray said that they had been looking at Adam Henrique since before the draft in June. Murray added that he had to wait until his defense corps was healthy before he would be able to make a move. He knew at some point he had to move a defenseman as he had too many and too much salary committed to the position.

On the Anaheim Ducks and Montreal Canadiens …

Eric Engels: The Canadiens and Ducks have had trade talks over the past couple years – Lars Eller and Alex Galchenyuk. At the 2016 trade deadline, the Ducks didn’t want to pay the Canadiens asking price for Eller. Elliotte Friedman recently reported there wasn’t a fit with the Ducks for Galchenyuk. It likely had to do with the Ducks not thinking he was an option at center.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Eric Engels of Sportsnet: A source is saying that the Canadiens have let teams know via an email that defenseman Brandon Davidson is available for trade. The Canadiens have scratched Davidson for the past three games.

With the Canadiens making Davidson available, it likely means that they plan on keeping Victor Mete around, at least until the World Junior training camps open up.
