NHL Rumors: The Montreal Canadiens and P.K. Subban
P.K. Subban of the Montral Canadiens and Taylor Hall of the Edmonton Oilers
On the Montreal Canadiens and P.K. Subban …

Presse Canadienne in the Montreal Gazette: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin once again said he not shopping P.K. Subban around the league, but will listen to any offers that come in.

“I do not listen to gossip. We talked about the P.K. situation at the team’s post-mortem. This is not a player I’m in a position to trade. Nothing has changed since April 11, Bergevin said.

“If someone wants to call me regarding any player, for sure we’ll listen. But to solicit offers, we’re not. Neither for P.K., or anyone else. Not at the moment. Our core is good. Carey Price, (Brendan) Gallagher, (Alex) Galchenyuk, Max (Pacioretty) are good young people, who’ve grown together and have learned a lot this year. We’ll see how things go.”

Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Darren Dreger on TSN 690 on P.K. Subban trade speculation that won’t go away.

“Well, because the media is fascinated by it. Not necessarily in Montreal, but outside Montreal. P.K. Subban is a galvanizing type of name, and he draws attention. The fact that his contract protection doesn’t kick in until, what, July 1 gives us ample opportunity to speculate. It’s not a lot different, although contractually there’s a huge difference clearly in Steven Stamkos as a pending unrestricted free agent.

“But any opportunity we have to just conjure up the type of trade that would be required to move a piece like that, obviously we’re going to want to talk about it.

“All I can tell you is what was the latest round. Taylor Hall and something out of Edmonton for P.K. Subban. You know, when these things surface, as Insiders we have to get to a source who is either going to completely dismiss or verify that there’s at least the potential, there’s a chance, as Duthie would suggest – not with Edmonton, but – a chance that Subban can get traded.

“Specific to Edmonton, I mean Peter Chiarelli just told me point blank there’s been no conversation. Very likely wouldn’t be any conversation. This is all just industry fodder that you guys, and he’s talking to me, want to talk about when things are slow.

“So I still think that long shot at best doesn’t even describe how far-fetched that might be, specific to Subban.”
