NHL Rumors: GM and Coaching Notes
Mike Yeo has met with the Ottawa Senators about their vacant head coaching position

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: The Coyotes plan on moving quickly to fill their vacant GM position.

“I wouldn’t be shocked if we have some form of an announcement next week or the week thereafter,” President, CEO and co-owner Anthony LeBlanc said.

LeBlanc has already had “multiple discussions with multiple individuals.”

The Coyotes want to bring in an analytic approach. Maple Leafs assistant GM Kyle Dubas has the qualities that the Coyotes are looking for. The Lightning (assistant GM Julien BriseBois) and Kings (VP of hockey operations and director of player personnel Michael Futa) are others that use that approach.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Confirm the TSN report that Senators GM Pierre Dorion met with former Wild coach Mike Yeo over the weekend. Sources saying they met on Sunday and that Yeo is the first head coaching candidate that has been interviewed. It’s believed that Guy Boucher and Marc Crawford will have talks with Dorion this week. There is a chance that Dorion could speak with 10 to 15 coaching candidates before creating a short list.

Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger: “I think that Marc Crawford still has a lot to give by an NHL standard… and I think he can be an NHL coach again.” GMs and owners don’t really like it “when it appears like guys are campaigning” for jobs …  “The best thing Marc Crawford could do is what Guy Boucher and some others have done – just sit quiet and let the phone ring.”

On the Minnesota Wild …

Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger on Wild GM Chuck Fletcher: “If they go out in the first round, I think that Chuck Fletcher is going to be in as much trouble as the coach.”
