“Well I think they were hoping that Mike Condon would be on waivers from Pittsburgh. Matt Murray returned last night and he was the backup for Marc-Andre Fleury as they played and beat Florida. But Condon can go on waivers today and there is some doubt if the Penguins want to do it.
He’s a Massachusetts guy. I think he’s a guy that Boston would really like to have.
If this doesn’t happen, I bet Jim Rutherford is trying to see if he can get something for him.
Then maybe we’ll start to see them do what the Kings did and look at the Reto Berra’s of the world and see if there is a deal to be made.”
Doug McLean: Continuing on when Friedman is done.
“And when you’re a GM and you hear somebody is excited about one of your players going on waivers, like Jimmy Rutherford would hear that Boston would be very interested in Condon. I suspect he’s trying to make a trade before he has to put him on waivers. So it will be interesting.”
On the New York Rangers …
Steve Zipay of Newsday: The Rangers could soon have 24 roster players, meaning someone would have to placed on waivers, put on the IR or traded.
Dylan McIlrath has only played in one game this season and could be the player the Rangers waive or trade. Adam Clendening has played in five games and has a higher likelihood of getting claimed. Brady Skjei doesn’t need to clear waivers, but has been playing well.
