NHL Rumors: Senators, Martin, Radulov, Blackhawks and Kings
No takers for Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown
On the Ottawa Senators …

Chris Stevenson: Senators GM Pierre Dorion wants to avoid arbitration with Mike Hoffman, so they’ll continue to work on various terms.

Shawn Simpson: Both Patrick Wiercioch and Alex Chiasson need to traded by at 5 pm or qualified, which is unlikely. They would become unrestricted free agents if not qualified

On Matt Martin

David Pagnotta: The Rangers and Maple Leafs are among the teams that have reached out to Matt Martin.

On Alexander Radulov

Aivis Kalnins: There are only two KHL teams that could sign Alexander Radulov – CSKA and SKA. Doubtful that he would go less than $9 million.

The Chicago Blackhawks …

Scott Powers: Source saying the Blackhawks won’t be re-signing goaltender Michael Leighton. He’ll be a UFA.

Chris Hine of the Chicago Tribune: Andrew Shaw knew heading into contract talks with the Chicago Blackhawks that it was possible that he wouldn’t be back. The Blackhawks couldn’t fit him and he was dealt to the Canadiens. He felt they were close to a deal.

“I think we were pretty close, but they have cap issues and it’s tough to get around,” Shaw said Saturday of his negotiations with the Hawks. “Especially this time of year with the draft coming, free agency coming. It was tough. … I loved being in Chicago. It’s a second home to me. A lot of great memories there.”

Reports have him talking about a five to seven year deal with the Canadiens.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

David Pagnotta: Confirm that even though they have limited salary cap space, they are reaching out to Kyle Okposo, Andrew Ladd and Loui Eriksson. Would have to think that if they are serious about a top UFA winger that they’d need to move some salary out as they still need to address their blueline.

David Pagnotta: The Kings are exploring trading Dustin Brown‘s contract, but there have been no real options so far.

Dennis Bernstein: The Kings haven’t started contract talks with Tyler Toffoli about an extension. Toffoli is now represented by Pat Brisson, who did the Anze Kopitar deal.
