On the Boston Bruins …

Michael Russo: Bruins GM Don Sweeney was listed on the seating chart for last night’s game between the Minnesota Wild and Anaheim Ducks.

Scouting the Arizona Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning games …

Craig Morgan: Scouts listed to attend last night’s Coyotes-Lightning game: Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, and Carolina Hurricanes.

Scouting the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers …

Adam Kimelman: Scouts listed to attend the Devils – Flyers game: Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Zach Smith is a pending free agent for the Senators, and he and the Senators hoping a deal can be worked out for his return next year and beyond. GM Pierre Dorion said on Friday that he met with Smith’s agent while in St. Louis last week. They are trying to get a done, possibly in the four-year range.

“I want to be here. My plans haven’t been to be anywhere else and we’ve made that clear,” Smith told Postmedia Saturday before facing the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. “I want to be here. We’re pretty confident we’ll get something done here.”

If a new contract isn’t in place by the trade deadline, teams will likely call the Senators to see if he’s available.

“If you would like to use a marker it would definitely be nice to get something done by the trade deadline for peace of mind anyways,” Smith said.
