NHL Rumors: Brodin, Boedker, Penguins, McGinn, and Senators
Jonas Brodin is in the rumor mill again

On Deadline Day …

  • Chris Johnston: A text from a NHL front office member:  “I don’t think you will be busy.”

On the Jonas Brodin …

  • Bob McKenzie: Jonas Brodin’s name has been prominent in trade rumors, especially since he was linked to Ryan Johansen trade rumors.
  • Bob McKenzie: The Wild aren’t shopping Brodin or trying to trade him. Listening to offers from teams who are interested in the 22-year old top-four defenseman that carries a $4.16 million cap hit.

On Mikkel Boedker …

  • Brian Lawton: Hearing the Islanders and Mikkel Boedker linked today. Only 26 years old and has a reasonable hit of $3.75 million.
  • Andy Strickland: Boedker being traded seems like a slam dunk. Coyotes can hold off as long as they can and auction him off to the highest bidder.
  • Darren Dreger:  Doesn’t sound the Kings are that keen on Boedker. They are still interested in adding a forward and defenseman.
  • Craig Custance: Will be interesting to see if Boedker talks heat up today. Ducks and Kings interested, and could see the Blues as a fit.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

  • Dave Molinari: Coach Mike Sullivan said that Sergei Plotnikov won’t take part in their game-day skate on Monday because he could be traded.
  • Josh Yohe: The Penguins have been trying to trade Sergei Plotnikov for weeks now.

  • John Vogl: McGinn’s agent:  “I have no news at all. There’s just nothing going on that I’m going to say anything about.”

On the Ottawa Senators …

  • Bruce Garrioch: There is gunuine interest in Senators defenseman Patrick Wiercioch.
  • Bruce Garrioch: The Senators will look to add a forward tomorrow, ideally one that is not a rental.
