NHL Rumors: Jaromir Jagr, and the Vancouver Canucks
Jaromir Jagr's camp in discussions with two or three NHL teams
On Jaromir Jagr …

Igor Eronko: Nail Yakupov’s dad is the GM of the KHL’s Neftekhimik and said they are in talks with Jaromir Jagr’s camp. He assures that they have the money to be able to sign him.

Aivis Kalnins: Source on Jagr: ”Jagr exploring options but not particularly interested in Neftehimik’.”

Igor Eronko: Jagr:  ‘KHL is possible cause if I’m not in NHL, then I want to go to the Olympics. I want to try to make the team’

Igor Eronko: Jagr on the idea of signing a PTO: “I’m not gonna go for it. It’s funny we talk about it. After 25 years they know what kind of player I am.”

TSN: Pierre LeBrun said that Jagr is getting interest from KHL teams, but he’s been in discussions with two or three NHL teams and that he’s not interested in retirement. They are hoping to get something signed by the end of training camp. If something doesn’t get done by the end of training camp, he could sign in the KHL and go to the Olympics.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Jason Brough: “Absolute lunacy” if the Vancouver Canucks are in on the Matt Duchene trade talk. They need to draft and develop.

Jason Brough: Erik Gudbranson’s agent on the one-year deal they signed this offseason.

“The decision to do a short-term deal had nothing to do with trying to get to unrestricted free agency or trying to get out of Vancouver. It was simply, Vancouver doesn’t know what they have in Erik to be able to commit something long term to him, because he hasn’t had enough of a showing in Vancouver.

“They know what he was, obviously, in Florida. But we all want to see where this season goes, and I’m confident that if things go well in the first half of the year that we’ll be talking about an extension come January.”
