NHL Rumors: Trouba – Oilers, Bruins, Sabres and Ducks
Jacob Trouba of the Winnipeg Jets and Seth Griffith of the Boston Bruins
On Jacob Trouba and the Winnipeg Jets …

Gary Lawless: The Jets are talking with teams that might be interested in Jacob Trouba. Trouba’s agent is talking with teams about what they are looking for in a contract. Teams are wanting to know what the cost might be.

Bob Stauffer: Don’t think the Oilers would trade either Oscar Klefbom or Darnell Nurse for Jacob Trouba. The Oilers have a Klefbom and Adam Larsson defensive pairing at a good dollar amount.

Bob Stauffer: The Oilers wouldn’t have to protect Nurse for the Expansion draft. Would also have to consider what Trouba would want on a new deal.

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: The Bruins have been eyeing Trouba for months. They considered an offer sheet back in June. Team President Cam Neely said a couple weeks ago that they were still looking to add a top-four defenseman.

A package of Ryan Spooner, Joe Morrow and a first round pick may not be enough for the Jets. The Jets could be interested in Brandon Carlo or maybe Adam McQuaid.

Worst case scenario for the Bruins would be if, like the St. Louis Blues and Kevin Shattenkirk, a potential deal started and ended with David Pastrnak.

Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Bob McKenzie on TSN 690 on the Jacob Trouba – Winnipeg Jets situation.

“…. Therefore, our asking price is we want a Top 4 or top-pairing left-shot defenseman to fill the hole that we would be creating by trading Trouba.’ Because the Jets planned on playing Trouba on the left side with either Byfuglien or Myers this year.

“Well, there’s not that many left-shot, elite defensemen coming out of entry level of like ages and talents. I mean, Rasmus Ristolainen in Buffalo would be one. And I absolutely believe Buffalo would have interest in Jacob Trouba. But not if it means giving up Ristolainen. I do not believe that Buffalo would make that one-for-one trade.

“Anaheim’s got Hampus Lindholm in a situation where he’s a restricted free agent who doesn’t have a contract yet, so even though Sweden is knocked out, he won’t be in camp this week. Similar situation to Trouba. I don’t believe that Anaheim is prepared to trade Hampus Lindholm to Winnipeg in a one-for-one for Trouba.

“So there are teams out there – New York Rangers, Arizona, some others – that would be really interested in Jacob Trouba; but they don’t have the asset that, at this point in time, Winnipeg is demanding in exchange.
