NHL Rumors III: Predators Options and Petry Could Still Be Traded
  • Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: With the loss of Mike Fisher extending into the early part of next season, it creates a hole down the middle for the Predators. They have Olli Jokinen and their youngsters (Calle Jarnkrok, Colin Wilson or Colton Sissons) may have to take a bigger role according to GM David Poile.

“We’re not going to sign a player for the sake of signing,” Poile said. “It has to be a fit.”

  • Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: Two options for the Predators at center could be:1. Vincent Lecavalier – money is the biggest stumbling block with regards to this potential trade. At 34-years old, his best years are behind him, but he would be a viable option.

    2. Derek Roy – the 31-year old is coming off a down year where he didn’t reach 40 points. Roy could be a low risk signing like Olli Jokinen. His passing skills may be a good fit with James Neal.

  • Jonathan Willis: Even though the Oilers signed Jeff Petry to a one-year contract yesterday, but Willis thinks a trade is still possible. If they are considering trading him, it would be better to do it sooner than later. There have been trade rumors surrounding Petry for awhile. If they trade him now, they likely could get a roster player back in return, as opposed to a pick or prospect at the trade deadline.
