NHL Rumors III: Hurricanes, Sharks, Avalanche and Penguins
  • Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Ulf Samuelsson is getting hype as the Hurricanes next head coach.

The Sharks could look to trade Antti Niemi and his $4 million salary. Ryan Miller may not be much of an upgrade. Miller wasn’t able to elevate the Blues over Corey Crawford and the Blackhawks.

If the Avalanche think Alex Tanguay can be healthy enough to be a top-six forward next year, that could make P.A. Parenteau available. They could move him for a defenseman.

Matheson thinks Brent Burns will move back to the blueline next season. Mirco Mueller should get a top-six spot on the Sharks blueline next year.

  • Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: If the Penguins end up losing this series to the Rangers, expect some big changes. Ownership doesn’t like what it’s seeing, and it’s not just a coaching issue. Dan Bylsma’s job wouldn’t be safe. GM Ray Shero would be on the hotseat as well.
