NHL Rumors I: Coaching Updates – Panthers, Kings, Canucks, Penguins and Hurricanes
  • George Richards: The Panthers expect to have an official announcement on a new head coach by Monday.
  • HabsLinks: Pierre McGuire said on TSN 690 that the Panthers made an offer to a coach, but that coach has not (yet) accepted the Panthers offer.
  • Dave Molinari: Seems logical that the Kings have given John Stevens some sort of promise so that he’d stay with them. Likely that he’d replace Sutter when he steps down.
  • Bob McKenzie: The Canucks and Penguins have asked the Stars permission to talk with Stars AHL head coach Willie Desjardins.
  • Inside Pittsburgh Sports: Confirmed to have phone or in-person interview with the Penguins: Hynes, Wilson, Crawford, Renney, Samuelsson, Peters.
  • Louis Jean: Told that the Penguins are down to two candidates. Decision will be coming soon.
  • Dan Murphy: The Canucks have interviewed M. Johnson, Crawford, Horachek and Bylsma so far. Willie Desjardins and Scott Arniel will be interviewed later this week.
  • Louis Jean: Sources say that Red Wings assistant coach Bill Peters will have his second interview with the Hurricanes.
