NHL Rumors: Hurricanes, Oilers and Flames
Dougie Hamilton

On the Carolina Hurricanes …

@Prospects_Watch: Bob McKenzie on his podcast: “The Carolina Hurricanes would be prepared to entertain offers for no.2.”

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Dhiren Mahiban of the Sporting News: Defenseman Darnell Nurse is a pending restricted free agent and he’s not too concerned about it.

“It hasn’t been too stressful on me,” Nurse told Sporting News Canada. “I think I kind of just sit back and I have an idea of what I want to do. You just kind of sit back and let things play out. That’s kind of the approach I’ve had.

“It’s for the agent and the GM to hash out. When something comes to the table, then I get to make the final decision, that’s kind of how I look at it.”

On the Calgary Flames …

Chris Nichols of FRS Hockey: Elliotte Friedman was on 630 CHED and was asked about the availability of Calgary Flames defenseman Dougie Hamilton and it was brought up how they don’t have any early round draft picks.

“Hamilton I think is an interesting one,” noted Friedman. “I do agree with you that Calgary I think is going to do something. I think they’re going to try to get into the first round. I think that Hamilton is a guy whose name will come up. Just like O’Reilly, there’s a lot of interest. Guy scored what, 16 goals last year? He’s a really talented guy.”

Friedman adds that will be teams interested in him and it will come down to if they are offered enough “that makes them want to do it.” The price will be extremely high but it’s something they would consider.

“The one thing I should say, because these always turn into fiascos when they get transcribed; I think Calgary is going to consider just about anything.

“And the other guy too I think is going to be Sam Bennett. I think they will consider Sam Bennett. And if they get an offer that’s good enough on Sam Bennett, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled that trigger too.”
