NHL Rumors: Flames, Blue Jackets and Bruins
Kevin Shattenkirk of the St. Louis Blues and Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins
On the Calgary Flames …

Chris Nichols: Elliotte Friedman on Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving: “I think he’d like to add another forward and I think he’s always sniffing on a goalie if he can find the right guy.”

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

Aaron Portzline: The chances are slim that the Blue Jackets add a backup goalie at the trade deadline.

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: The Bruins recent play of late has them thinking playoffs, but GM Don Sweeney is still thinking long-term and won’t waste future assets. The could use a winger, a defenseman and a backup goalie.

Trade possibilities include:

Gabriel Landeskog: Including Brandon Carlo or Charlie McAvoy in a package is a non-starter. Chances are slim that a deal happens at the deadline.

Kevin Shattenkirk: May not happen because of the asking price for him in a trade as well as the price of a contract extension. If the rental asking price comes down, there could be a chance.

Dmitry Kulikov: The Sabres could decide to keep him. Would be a cheaper acquisition for the Bruins over Shattenkirk.

Jaroslav Halak: His $4.5 million contract would be a stumbling block.

Patrik Berglund: He isn’t really an impactful player and the the Bruins may not be willing to pay the price for the rental. Doubtful they acquire him as he’s not much of an upgrade.

Patrick Eaves: A $1 million cap hit and it may not cost a lot for him. Sweeney isn’t fully into the rental idea, so Eaves may not be the direction they want to go in. He would bring them versatility and some help on the power play.

Jordan Eberle: $6 million a year for another two years. Not a prototypical Bruin at 5’11” and a 185 pounds. Can’t see a Bruins doing a deal with Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli.
