NHL Rumors: Oilers, Penguins, Rangers, Canadiens and Senators
The Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins
On the Edmonton Oilers …

Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun: Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli has yet to hit the panic button. Coach Todd McLellan is making some significant line and pairing changes in an attempt to get them going. When asked if McLellan was close to asking Chiarelli to make a trade or two:

“I don’t do that. That’s not my job,” he said.

“Peter and I talk all the time, and we discuss the team, we discuss the players that we have. We have a great talent pool in there. We have pieces that are very capable of playing.”

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger on TSN 690 on the Pittsburgh Penguins. They’ve been blown out a few times this season. They have success when they remain focused, but if they start chasing, it can get ugly quickly. The Penguins are a well-coached team:

“and if they need some pieces other than what Jim Rutherford has already added this year, then no doubt in my mind that he’ll go and find out something that’s going to help them.”

On the New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 1040 and was asked about GMs who might be active on the trade front.

LeBrun suggests watching the New York Rangers as they are not happy with the start to their season. GM Jeff Gorton is checking out what he could do.

Not many GMs make more calls that Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin. Bergevin is always keeping in touch with other teams to see if there is something that could be done.

The Ottawa Senators have some injuries at forward. GM Pierre Dorion was at an Islanders game on Monday. The Sens could be active and looking to add a forward.
