On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News: Red Wings GM Ken Holland is expected to meet with Pavel Datsyuk early next week.

“I know Pavel is coming back to Detroit in the middle of June, he has a camp that week, and we’re going to meet before that,” Holland said.

Datsyuk’s agent has said that he’s received a contract offer from SKA, and it’s expected he’d get more from other KHL teams.

Holland expects a decision on their assistant coach this week as their list is down to “a couple of names.”

Holland has made a contract offer to Darren Helm, but hasn’t heard back from his agent.

Ansar Khan of MLive: The Detroit Red Wings are trying to re-sign both Darren Helm and Drew Miller. A Miller deal could be done soon, but a Helm contract could take weeks before Helm decides what he wants to do. GM Ken Holland on Miller.

“We’re working away, hopefully find a solution,” general manager Ken Holland said. “He’s a good penalty killer, he’s a good leader in the room. He doesn’t wear a letter but he’s well-respected by the younger players. Hopefully we find a solution to keep him here for another year.”

Both Holland and head coach Jeff Blashill have talked to Helm multiple times, and Holland has spoken with Helm’s agent. Helm will likely wait until after he’s spoken with other teams during the free agent interview process at the end of the month. Helm could make $3.5 to $4 million on his next deal.

Holland won’t be making contract offers to Kyle Quincey and Brad Richards.

Holland is working on signing some of their RFAs – Petr Mrazek, Danny DeKeyser, Riley Sheahan, Alexey Marchenko and Teemu Pulkkinen.

“By the end of the week I will have talked to all of our restricted players,” Holland said. “In most cases made offers or got an idea of what they’re thinking and they know what I’m thinking.”

The Red Wings have made Alexander Radulov a one-year offer believed to be between $4 and $5 million range.
