NHL Rumors: Red Wings, Ducks, Bruins and Jets
Cam Fowler of the Anaheim Ducks and Justin Abdelkader of the Detroit Red Wings
On the Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks …

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: The Red Wings need to upgrade their blueline, and management continues to attempt to do that.

Some of the Wings staff were able to scout the Ducks and Cam Fowler in New Jersey on Tuesday. The Ducks are asking the Wings for Anthony Mantha in any deal.

After a strong preseason, Evgeny Svechnikov is another target, but he’s a prospect the Wings would loath to trade.

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE:(mailbag) The Bruins aren’t a good trade match for the Jets and Jacob Trouba at this point. The Ducks don’t appear to want to move defenseman Cam Fowler as they still hope to make a playoff run.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Elliotte Friedman was on NHL Network talking about Jacob Trouba and the Winnipeg Jets. Friedman doesn’t think it’s possible that Trouba could return to the Jets. They asked him what it would take to re-sign him in the summer, and Trouba’s camp told them it’s not about the money, it’s about playing on the right side.

“I think we’re at a time now – look, there’s a lot of interest. The Jets’ ask is very high. I think it’s going to come down to when the Jets feel they’re comfortable to make the move if they get what they want. One of the things about Winnipeg is Kevin Cheveldayoff has shown over time that he will wait. Evander Kane, for years he wanted to go out of Winnipeg and they didn’t trade him until they got the deal they wanted. That’s what they’re going to do here again.

“I’m of the belief that you reach a point where you’ve just got to move on. I think the Jets aren’t at that point yet, and we’re waiting for them to get there.”
