NHL Rumors: Dallas Stars and Ottawa Senators
Mike Condon of the Ottawa Senators and Patrick Eaves of the Dallas Stars
On the Dallas Stars …

Sean Shapiro of Wrong Side of the Redline: (mailbag) thinks the Stars will trade Patrick Eaves and Patrick Sharp, and possibly Jamie Oleksiak.

Eaves is having a career season and only carries a $1 million cap hit. A fit with the Chicago Blackhawks?

Johnny Oduya‘s ankle injury could prevent him from being moved. If he doesn’t return to the lineup soon, he won’t have much trade value.

Jiri Hudler‘s play this season may make it hard to trade him.

doesn’t think trading for Marc-Andre Fleury and Ben Bishop is worth it due to their salary, age and injury history.

Sean Shapiro of WFAA: The Stars could also shop forwards Lauri Korpikoski and Adam Cracknell. Moving some players would create the room for Denis Gurianov and Jason Dickinson to get some experience this year and build towards next season.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Senators pending free agent goaltender Mike Condon hopes to remain with the team beyond this season. The Senators have held preliminary talks with Condon’s agent Michael Wulkan. When talks get serious between his agent the Senators, then he’ll want to be involved, but he doesn’t want a play-by-play beforehand.

“I told (Wulkan) I didn’t want to hear anything unless there was something tangible or something significant,” said Condon, who’s in the final year of a deal that pays him $575,000. “I’ve got a pretty good relationship with my guy. I’ve known him since college.

“I just told him I don’t like hearing rumours or scuttlebutt. That’s just a distraction and I just want to worry about the on-ice product right now. If something comes along that (Wulkan) thinks is worth hearing then I’ll listen to it and take his advice. That’s why I pay him to handle all that stuff.”
