NHL Rumors: Mostly Dallas Stars With A Little Boston Bruins
Patrick Sharp of the Dallas Stars and Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins
On the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars …

Jimmy Murphy: Source saying the Bruins have shown interest in Stars defenseman John Klingberg, but the price was too high for them.

On the Dallas Stars …

Jim Matheson: Patrick Sharp has a no trade clause, and anyone that trades for him will likely need the Stars to retain half his salary.

Sean Shapiro: From the way the Jiri Hudler‘s played this season, there may not be much of a market for him. The Stars would obviously listen to any offers.

Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: (link as full intereview) Stars GM Jim Nill on the trade deadline. Nill on if they’ve decided if they are sellers at the deadline.

“We’re still in it, but you also have to be realistic. To be honest, you’re always a seller and a buyer at the same time. You have things you need and you have things that other teams need, and you’re always looking for the right match to make yourself better. Deadlines accelerate the process, because you know there is a day where you have to make a decision. And, you also know that there are different values on different situations. You might like a player very much, but if you’re in jeopardy of losing him for nothing, that changes your outlook. Same thing, you might like a prospect, but if you can get a player who can help you now, you weigh out the advantages and disadvantages. The deadline actually probably helps all parties involved.”

Nill on how much the expansion draft will affect the trade deadline.

“It could quite a bit. Because if you want to acquire a player and his contract goes beyond this year, you have to worry if he needs protection. That could make you focus on someone else who has a different type of contract, and we need to understand what each team is thinking there.”

Nill wouldn’t discuss if he had a policy about firing a coach in-season, and wouldn’t comment if he’s asked permission to speak with a coach that is under contract with another team.
