NHL Rumors: Panthers, Canucks, Ducks and Red Wings
Dale Tallon won't be leaving the Panthers
On the Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers …

Scott Lewis of Sportsnet: Dale Tallon stepped aside as the Panthers GM, but he’ll be staying with Florida and won’t be heading to Vancouver.

“There have been lots of rumours about the future of Dale Tallon since it was announced he was being moved out of the GM position in Florida,” Friedman said. “One of those things has been linked to Vancouver…the Canucks saying today ‘Stop this, there’s no truth to it. It’s not going to happen.’”

Elliotte Friedman reports that the Ducks and Flames have been given permission by the Wild to speak with Mike Yeo.

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Eric Stephens of the LA Daily News: Ducks assistants Paul MacLean and Trent Yawney remain candidates for the head coaching position. Travis Green (Utica AHL) is also a candidate. A Canucks spokesman said that Canucks GM Jim Benning wouldn’t comment on whether the Ducks have asked them permission to speak with Green.

The Calgary Flames are thought to be eyeing Mike Yeo.

Bob Hartley is not on the Ducks list.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan of MLive: Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill would like to add an assistant coach to help out their powerplay.

The Wings are expected to talk with former Wild and Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards. Other potential candidates include Dave Cameron, Paul MacLean and Mike Yeo. Previous head coaching experience would be a bonus, but not a must of Blashill.

“A number of the candidates that I’d like to talk to are guys that have had NHL head coaching experience,” Blashill said. “It certainly won’t be restricted to just that but there’s decisions throughout the year and throughout games that if somebody’s been through those roles they’ve got a unique perspective and one that I’d like to be able to learn from and grow our staff as a result of. We’ll see if that comes to fruition.”
