Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: At a 11 AM press conference at the Gila River Arena, the Coyotes are expected to name the soon to be 27-year old John Chayka as the teams next general manager.

Head coach Dave Tippett will get an expanded role with the team in personnel and other decisions.

The Coyotes named Chayka their assistant GM for analytics last offseason, after he spent three season in junior hockey.

On the Calgary Flames …

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jason Gregor of the Edmonton Journal: If the Edmonton Oilers are to trade the No. 4 pick, it’s most likely to happen at the NHL draft in June. GM Peter Chiarelli has already said there is a legitimate chance that he moves the pick, and that he’d like to improve their blueline.

Gregor would trade the fourth overall pick for Travis Hamonic, but he thinks it would take more than that for Hamonic. Hamonic is a 24-year old right-handed defenseman who has four-years left at a $3.85 million cap hit.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Senators: The Ottawa Senators could be finished their coaching interviews by Friday. They are getting closer to naming a new head coach.

Once the interviews are concluded, it is believed that GM Pierre Dorion will create a shortlist of two or three candidates for a second round of interviews. Owner Euguene Melnyk is expected to meet with a top candidate or two.

Dorion is expected to meet with Bruce Boudreau today or tomorrow, and he could be reaching out to Bob Hartley.
