NHL Rumors: Hurricanes, Avalanche, Knights, Capitals and Flyers
Noah Hanifin
On the Carolina Hurricanes …

David Pagnotta: “Some talk the Hurricanes are dangling defenseman Noah Hanifin as trade bait. Carolina wants top-line guy.”

AJ Haefele: “All joking aside, Hanifin has been Colorado’s top target in a Duchene deal for ages. If CAR will pull the trigger, believe Avs will, too.”

On the Colorado Avalanche …

David Pagnotta: “Duchene talks ongoing, shifting. Carolina, Nashville, others in the mix.”

On the Vegas Golden Knights …

David Paganotta: “Knights also play a factor in D market, as they’ve got a few bodies to move: Methot, Sbisa, Emelin, Miller in play”

David Pagnotta: “That said, wouldn’t be surprised if Vegas keeps Emelin.”

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan: “btw, thought Caps could’ve dealt Grubauer this summer. But now that Arizona doesn’t need a goalie anymore, what’s the market?”

On the Philadephia Flyers …

Dave Isaac:  “The Coyotes acquiring Raanta leaves the Flyers almost alone in the goalie market.”

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Daily News: It sounds like the Flyers don’t want to enter the season with Michal Neuvirth and Anthony Stolarz as their goalie tandem.

“Neuvy’s a really good goalie. If we can get another guy and do what Neuvy and Mase have done the last couple years, that’s kind of what we envision,” Hextall said at the NHL draft’s hotel headquarters in Chicago . “Is it Mase? Is it a free agent? Is it a trade? I don’t have the answer to that. We expect to do a platoon. Neuvy’s too good to say, ‘He’s your backup and he’s going to play 20 games.’ ”

Flyers GM Ron Hextall could look to make a deal at the draft, or he could go after a free agent on July 1st.

Potential UFA goalies include Steve MasonJonathan Bernier, Brian Elliott, Anders Nilsson, Keith Kinkaid, and Ryan Miller.
