NHL Rumors: Price, Mason, Elliott, Flyers, Lightning and Bruins
Carey Price could be looking at $10 million a season. Would the Boston Bruins be interested in Scott Hartnell?
On Carey Price

Chris Nichols: Bob McKenzie on TSN 1050. With Henrik Lundqvist making $8.5 million: “I’m going to bet that Carey Price’s (cap hit) is north of $10 million.”

Chris Nichols: McKenzie just making a guess but “I won’t be surprised if Price’s number on an extension comes in at between $10-11 million.”

On Steve Mason

Sam Carchidi: Steve Mason’s agent confirms that he won’t be back with the Flyers next season and will be playing elsewhere.

Rick Dhaliwal: The Canucks spoke with Mason’s agent yesterday and were told that they are not in the mix for him.

On Brian Elliott

Andy Strickland: Elliott could be looking for three years at $2.75 million from the Flyers.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Tom Jones of the Tampa Bay Times: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman.

“We definitely can look at areas where we need to improve with the players we did have on the ice,” Yzerman said. “Those are the things I can try to address: identify what the issues were from what we saw and try to improve upon it.”

They could use another defenseman and some depth forwards to fill out their third and fourth line. Their biggest need for next season is Steven Stamkos to remain healthy.

On the Boston Bruins …

Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald: The Bruins are looking for a left handed defenseman and are in the running for Trevor Daley, though late yesterday there was a report that the Detroit Red Wings were the front-runners.

Michael Del Zotto and Karl Alzner are two other options. Alzner may be looking for too much term and money than the Bruins are willing to go.

Kevin Shattenkirk has been linked to the Bruins in the past, but he may not make much sense for them now unless they make another move.

There had be trade rumors around the draft regarding Marco Scandella.

Up front, recently bought out Scott Hartnell might be of interest.
