NHL Rumors: Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Marc Methot and Travis Hamonic
The Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs are among the teams interested in Travis Hamonic
On the Washington Capitals …

David Pagnotta: There haven’t really been any real contract talks between UFA defenseman Karl Alzner and the Washington Capitals. The last time they spoke was a few weeks ago. The Capitals have limited salary cap space.

JJ Regan: (referring to Lavoie’s tweet wondering if the Leafs could send a 2nd to Vegas for Nate Schmidt) If Schmidt is only valued as a second rounder, you’d think that the Capitals would have found a way to keep him.

On Marc Methot and the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Darren Dreger: The Toronto Maple Leafs are on Marc Methot’s no-trade list.

Darren Dreger: Aside from the Senators, all other Canadian teams were on Methot’s no-trade list. He’s not eligible to be traded back to Ottawa until after January 1st, 2018.

On Travis Hamonic

Chris Nichols: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 on the Calgary Flames rumored interest in defenseman Travis Hamonic: “I think there is every reason to believe that’s 100 percent accurate.”

Chris Nichols: Friedman: Have heard that the Islanders are looking for two first round draft picks for Hamonic.

Andy Graziano: The Vegas Golden Knights, Arizona Coyotes, St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars are the only four teams that have at least two first round picks in this year’s draft. So if looking for two first round picks this year, report may not make much sense.

Alec Brownscombe: Friedman said the Islanders asking price was two first round picks for Hamonic, but it doesn’t mean they will get their asking price.

Chris Nichols: Friedman thinks that the Toronto Maple Leafs are in on Hamonic. Not sure if the Dallas Stars are in on him, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were.

Chris Nichols: Friedman thinks the Flames would be interest in Hamonic but at a lesser price.

Chris Nichols: Friedman thinks that Islanders GM Garth Snow‘s asking price is the two firsts as he want to contain his salary cap situation in check for John Tavares and not take any players back.
