NHL Rumors: Canucks, Senators, Capitals, and Devils
John Carlson

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Sportsnet 650: Renaud Lavoie on Canucks pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Erik Gudbranson and his trade value: “The type of return for Gudbranson could be something like a 2nd + Prospect or a late 1st. There are a lot of possibilities for the Canucks.”

On the Ottawa Senators …

Chris Johnston: Senators coach Guy Boucher when asked about the impact the trade deadline has on his players: “Here’s the thing about the NHL: It’s a constant distraction from Day 1 until the end of the year.”

On the Washington Capitals …

JJ Regan: GM Brian MacLellan on if there have been contract talks with pending free agent defenseman John Carlson: “I’m not going to comment on negotiations, but we’re going to do everything we can to bring him back.”

On the New Jersey Devils …

MSG Networks: Devils GM Ray Shero on the trade deadline dealing process.

“I think it’s over the next little while where you’re really gonna, you’re just going to touch base with every team, and I’ve touched base with a number. Not every team yet, but guys are starting to call around to see what your needs may be, or if you’re looking to move somebody, and that’s the way it goes every year, and certainly there will be things that come up that we aren’t even thinking about or vise versa.

We may call a team and nothing that is on their radar, maybe give them something to think about. But, that is when it kind of picks up, and um, you know so, as I said, a few more weeks to go. A lot of teams are looking to improve themselves, or some teams are trying to look to the future, and as they say, sell off some players. So we’ll see what happens and where teams go.”
