The Fourth Period: The Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators have been scouting each other often this month and they appear to be talking trade.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said the trade of Ben Bishop doesn’t mean they are giving up on the season. The extra cap space gained helps create some extra space for bonuses that Jonathan Drouin, Andrei Vasilevskiy and others will earn this year. Yzerman said that they would consider signing Peter Budaj to an extension to back up Vasilevskiy next year.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Terry Frei of the Denver Post: Forward Gabriel Landeskog was asked if he thought about the possibility that last night might have been his last home game in an Avs jersey.

“I certainly hope not, to be honest with you. That’s not something I’ve really thought about, especially not tonight. I really hope not. And I guess I’ve told you before, it’s nothing I can control. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

“I want to be here. I want to be an Avalanche for a long time. I hope it remains that way.”
