NHL Rumors: Bruins, Canucks, Oilers and Senators
Ryan Miller and Jared McCann

On the Boston Bruins …

Fluto Shinzawa: Bruins GM Don Sweeney was seen chatting it up with Jimmy Vesey at a Harvard function.

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: The Bruins need to improve their blueline this offseason. Six defensemen the Bruins could target in trade or free agency this offseason:  Kevin Shattenkirk, Jacob Trouba, Sami Vatanen, Matt Dumba, Jonas Brodin and Keith Yandle.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Sun: The Canucks should go hard after Lightning winger Jonathan Drouin this offseason. It would likely cost the Canucks their No. 5 pick and a roster player. May not be enough, but they should at least try to acquire him. The Canucks don’t have a lot of depth on the left side.

GM Jim Benning thinks Pierre-Luc Dubois could be a No. 1 center. If the Oilers draft Dubois, Matthew Tkachuk could be a good fallback.

The Canucks could be interested in Loui Eriksson, and he’d be a good replacement for Radim Vrbata. Term could be an issue with Eriksson.

Kyle Okposo could be another option for the Canucks.

The Islanders could be kicking tires on Taylor Hall in a deal for Travis Hamonic.

The Canucks could explore options with Ryan Miller, maybe taking back salary to get a pick or prospect and use the savings elsewhere.

Luca Sbisa has two-years left on his deal at a $3.6 million cap hit and he doesn’t have a no-trade clause.

The Canucks could use a No. 4 defenseman. They could look at teams that have cap issues. If they are able to draft Dubois, they could consider trading Jared McCann as they would have some depth.

They should only bring Dan Hamhuis back if it’s at a reasonable price and term.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Darren Dreger: (from a couple days ago) As of now, it appears that Senators prospect Colin White plans on returning to College for another year.

Cap Friendly: As long as White is in College, the Senators would retain his rights until August 15th, 2019.
