Four teams contacted Campbell. The Blackhawks were one team, and they are his first choice.

“I’m hopeful,” said Campbell, who lives in the western suburbs. “A lot of people know it’s my No. 1 place I’d like to play. So I’ll wait and see and hopefully it all works out.”

Campbell’s eight year, $57 million just expired and he’s willing to take a discount to sign with the Blackhawks.

Scott Powers of The Athletic: According to Dale Weise‘s agent, the Blackhawks have shown some interest in re-signing him.

“There is interest, but not sure what they will have cap-room wise,” Weise’s agent Allain Roy wrote in a text on Wednesday.

Dreger reported yesterday that 10 teams have been in contact with Weise’s camp.

The Blackhawks have about  $7.78 million in cap space with 15 players under contract. They need to fill out their roster with five forwards and two defensemen. They could bring back Brian Campbell.
