NHL Rumors: Boston Bruins and the Buffalo Sabres
Matt Beleskey of the Boston Bruins and Robin Lehner of the Buffalo Sabres
On the Boston Bruins  …

Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald: Guessing that the Bruins will protect defenseman Kevan Miller therefore exposing Adam McQuaid and Colin Miller. The Bruins are still stocked on the right side so they can afford to lose one of those two.

Shedding Matt Beleskey‘s $3.8 million cap hit for another three season may be on the minds of Bruins management. They may not want Beleskey blocking some of their left wing prospects in Jake DeBrusk, Peter Cehlarik, Danton Heinen, Anders Bjork and Frank Vatrano.

Could the Bruins offer a third round pick to the Vegas Golden Knights to select Beleskey? Would the Bruins offer a second round pick?

“We’re willing to take a couple of contracts that people would like to move,” said McPhee, who could also be the middle man for teams looking to get at others’ unprotected players. “We have a lot of teams that are offering us some big contracts. And I know what it’s like to be on the other side and tight on the (salary) cap. It’s hard to move contracts, so they’re looking at us to move a contract. And we’ll take a few of those. For the right price.”

On the Buffalo Sabres …

John Vogl of the Buffalo News: Vegas GM George McPhee that trades could start coming early this week. They’ll be talking with teams going over their options, including Sabres GM Jason Botterill.

“We’ve had one conversation so far that went really well,” McPhee said. “I imagine things will pick up next week. He’s certainly had a lot going on as well.”

The Sabres unprotected list may include Linus Ullmark, Matt Moulson, Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons.

The Sabres would have to offer up a draft pick to get the Golden Knights to select Matt Moulson and his $5 million per year salary.
