NHL Rumors: Avalanche, Stars, and Flyers
Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth of the Philadelphia Flyers
On the Colorado Avalanche …

Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe: The Avalanche will likely be able to get some future assets for Jarome Iginla. There is no chance the Avs would be able to move Carl Soderberg. He has three years left on his five-year, $23.75 million deal.

On the Dallas Stars …

Answering twitter questions …

Mike Heika: Chances of Lindy Ruff getting fired this season are almost zero. It would take a huge collapse by the Stars for that to happen.

Mike Heika: Adding some scoring is one area the Stars might address at the trade deadline if they start to make a playoff push. Guessing they would like to add a speedy winger that is on an expiring contract.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: The Philadelphia Flyers have two pending UFA goalies in Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth. It’s not known yet if they intend to re-sign either goalie.

Neurvirth has been out with knee injury and has a history of being injured. He’ll likely sign somewhere else this offseason.

If Mason has a second half like he did last year, there is a chance he’ll be back.

The Flyers need to expose a goalie from the expansion draft, so the Flyers could look to trade Neuvirth for a draft pick and add a backup. They could then protect Anthony Stolarz and leave the other goalie exposed.

“I love Philly. Great team and great group of guys,” Neuvirth said. “I would love to be back, but I’m focusing on hockey and focusing on this season.”

“This has been my home for five years and we really enjoy it,” Mason said. “We’ll see what Hexy and the organization decides to do.”

Potential goalies that could be exposed for the expansion draft include: Marc-Andre Fleury, Jimmy Howard, Semyon Varlamov, Roberto Luongo, and Thomas Greiss.
