On the Buffalo Sabres …

Mike Harrington: The Sabres assign defenseman Taylor Fedun to the AHL. Fedun must be ready/close to being able to play.

On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Michael Smith: Coach Bill Peters said that forward Marcus Kruger is feeling good and could return to the lineup today.

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

Blue Jackets PR: The Blue Jackets sent goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to the AHL and recalled goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks.

Blue Jackets PR: The Blue Jackets send forward Zac Dalpe and defenseman Dean Kukan to the AHL.

On the New York Rangers …

Steve Zipay: Chris Kreider, who is out with a blood clot in his arm, will have ‘rib resected’ surgery – trimming/cutting back of a rib. He’ll remain out indefinitely.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch: The Senators assign Filip Chlapik to the AHL.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Dave McCarthy: Forward Nazem Kadri (maintenance) missed practice yesterday.

Kristen Shilton of TSN: The Maple Leafs recalled defenseman Travis Dermott and assigned Martin Marincin to the AHL. It’s not known if Dermott will play in his first NHL game tonight.

“We’ll see what tomorrow brings,” Babcock said. “You don’t want to get him here before he’s ready, but if he can help then we’re going to find a way to get him in. I think he’s a good player. Is he NHL ready yet? Can he come in here and make a difference to our lineup? If he can, then he’ll get to stay. If he can’t, and if he’s not ahead of anyone else, might as well have a veteran playing and have him down playing 22 minutes and leading their team.”
