Stephen Whyno: Murray said that a Getzlaf should return by mid-December, with Kesler returning before Christmas.

Eric Stephens: Forward Ondrej Kase was skating with Antoine Vermette and Kevin Roy. Forward Jakob Silfverberg wasn’t on the ice, but defenseman Brandon Montour was.

On the Calgary Flames …

Roger Millions: Hearing that forward Kris Versteeg’s season could be in jeopardy as this lower-body injury may require surgery. It is a similar injury that he had back in 2012. He’s currently on the IR and could be moved to the LTIR.

On the Dallas Stars …

Sean Shapiro: Forward Martin Hanzal missed last night’s games and is back in Dallas with an injury. Should have an update today.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers put goaltender Cam Ward on the IR and recalled goaltender Nick Ellis.

Ryan Rishaug: Talbot had an MRI yesterday that showed some issues with a previous issue. The issue isn’t believed to be too serious, but recovery time is needed.

Edmonton Oilers: Coach Todd McLellan on Talbot: “He came home & played but didn’t feel right. We don’t think he’ll be available for at least two weeks. It could be longer.”

Jim Matheson: Talbot’s injury is not a concussion. He tweaked something during their game against the Red Wings and it came back during their Coyotes game.

Robert Tychkowski of the Edmonton Sun: Defenseman Adam Larsson was a late scratch last night due to an undisclosed injury.

Ryan Rishaug: Adam Larsson has an upper-body injury.

Michael Russo: Coach Bruce Boudreau will only say that defenseman Jared Spurgeon will be out for at least two weeks. reported that Spurgeon could potentially have a four- to six-week injury.

On the Nashville Predators …

Adam Vingan: Ryan Ellis was on the ice before Predators practice yesterday and remained on for their morning skate. It was the first time this season that he skated with teammates.

Brooks Bratten: Coach Peter Laviolette said that defenseman Ellis is still not expected to return until around Christmas/early January.
