Joe McDonald: Forward David Krejci and defenseman Kevan Miller remain day-to-day.

On the Florida Panthers …

Pierre LeBrun: The Panthers claimed Antti Niemi off waivers from the Penguins as a precaution with Roberto Luongo out with injury. The Panthers will be without Luongo at least until next week. They will know more about his injury when they get back home.

Bob McKenzie: Niemi off waivers may mean that the Luongo’s injured finger/hand is not good.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Andrew Gross: Coach John Hynes said that forward Kyle Palmieri had an off ice workout yesterday. Goaltender Cory Schneider skated by himself and will do so again today.

Dan Rosen: The Rangers have assigned Anthony DeAngelo to the AHL.

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Daily News: Forward Nolan Patrick may have suffered a concussion after being hit head-first into the glass last night in the second period. He underwent concussion tests and didn’t return to the game.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Mike Sullivan on defenseman Justin Schultz: “He was diagnosed with a concussion and is going through concussion protocol.”

Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Sullivan on Carter Rowney: “He has a fractured hand and will be out longer-term. It will be a minimum of four weeks.”

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Bryan Burns: Forward Cedric Paquette (upper-body) didn’t skate yesterday with the team.

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Forward Andre Burakovsky had surgery on his left thumb yesterday and will be out for six to eight weeks.

Tarik El-Bashir: The Capitals have put Burakovsky on the IR and recalled Chandler Stephenson.
