On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports Boston: Goaltender Tuukka Rask could return from his “concussion protocol” this weekend. He could return to practice today barring any setbacks in the past 24 hours.

“He’s in the protocol and progressing well,” said coach Bruce Cassidy. “He’ll probably join us for the next step if there are no ill effects from today. That’s a positive. If there are no setbacks, I think Saturday is a more realistic .”

Rask was hit by teammate Anders Bjork in practice last week.

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

CBJ Public Relations: Lukas Sedlak could be out six weeks with an ankle injury that he suffered in practice yesterday. The Blue Jackets have recalled Markus Hannikainen.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Chris Ryan: Goaltender Cory Schneider skated by himself yesterday and could do the same today. Forward Kyle Palmieri won’t skate until at least Thursday.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch: The Senators have recalled Max McCormick from the AHL.

Bruce Garrioch: Forward Colin White will likely play some AHL games this weekend.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Bill Meltzer: Flyers GM Ron Hextall said that Philippe Myers’s is day-to-day, and T.J. Brennan will be out for two to three weeks.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sam Werner: Penguins GM Jim Rutherford said their goaltending situation is fluid and had been something he’d be evaluating on a week-to-week basis.

Sam Werner: They have accelerated their Jarry/DeSmith plan of spending the year developing.

Sam Werner: Rutherford thinks that Antti Niemi would accept going to the AHL if he clears waivers.

Sam Werner: Rutherford on if Niemi could be back with the Penguins at some point: “I’m not going to rule anything out. You have to keep an open mind in this.”

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Luke Fox: Coach Mike Babcock said that part of their reasoning for signing defensemen Roman Polak was to limit Nikita Zaitsev‘s minutes which would hopefully help prevent an injury.
