On the Edmonton Oilers …

Edmonton Oilers: Head coach Todd McLellan will be back next year, but assistant coaches Jim Johnson and Ian Herbers won’t.

Darren Dreger: Both Glen Gulutzan and Trent Yawney could be assistant coaches with the Oilers next season if they can work out deals.

Edmonton Oilers: Jay Woodcraft will be the head coach in Bakersfield (AHL), with Gerry Fleming and Tony Borgford being relieved of their duties.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

Curtis Zupke: Forward Dustin Brown underwent left shoulder surgery. Forward Trevor Lewis underwent right hand surgery. Both Brown and Lewis are expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette: Forward Andrew Shaw will miss the start of the season next year. On Wednesday Shaw underwent left knee surgery and is expected to be out for a minimum of six months. Shaw also suffered a concussion on the Greg Pateryn hit on March 13th.

Shaw has four years left on his deal at a $3.9 million cap hit.

On the San Jose Sharks …

NHL Player Safety: Forward Evander Kane was suspended for one game for his cross-check on Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

Curtis Pashelka: Coach Pete DeBoer said that Joe Thornton won’t play in Game 2.

Curtis Pashelka: Coach DeBoer said that Joonas Donskoi will be in the line for Game 2.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Kristen Shilton: Coach Mike Babcock on the possibility of William Nylander playing center next year: “I’m not sure yet, it’ll depend on our lineup.”

Mike Zeisberger: GM Lou Lamoriello said that Andreas Johnsson and Travis Dermott will report to the Marlies (AHL). Kasperi Kapanen will be heading to the World Championships for Finland.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Frank Seravalli: Defenseman Toby Enstrom returned the lineup.
