Kristen Anderson: Goaltender Mike Smith didn’t’ skate while they were on their road trip. He’s still listed as day-to-day, and they’ll know more when they are more settled in Calgary. There is no timetable for his potential return.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Heika: Martin Hanzal missed last night’s game and will be out against the Jets. An update on his status won’t be known for a couple of days.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Bob Stauffer: Patrick Maroon missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

Edmonton Oilers: Forward Drake Caggiula is out with an illness. He should be ready for Saturday against the Kings. Patrick Maroon should also be able to go on Saturday.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

Lisa Dillman: The Kings recalled defenseman Jack Campbell and reassigned forward Michael Mersch and defenseman Paul LaDue to the AHL.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz: Forward Tomas Hertl returned to the lineup last night.

NHL.com: GM Doug Wilson said that Joe Thornton could return at some point this season. Thornton had knee surgery on January 25th.

“I would never count him out,” Wilson said. “You saw what happened last year. He just follows his own script. He knows his body better than anybody with what he went through last year. The next milestone will be when he gets back skating, and we’ll get a read from there.”

Paul Gackle: Defenseman Brent Burns missed the last 16 minutes of Sunday’s games but return on Tuesday. GM Doug Wilson said he’s dealing with an upper-body injury.

On the St. Louis Blues …

St. Louis Blues: The Blues put Robert Bortuzzo on the IR with a left knee injury.

Jeremy Rutherford: The Blues are hoping that Nikita Soshnikov could be there on Friday. Coach Mike Yeo: “We’re going to have to get him in, that’s the only way … the quicker we get him in, the quicker he’ll get up to speed with our group.”

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Farhan Lalji: Both Sam Gagner and Jacob Markstrom are ready to return to the lineup. The Canucks reassign goaltender Richard Bachman to the AHL.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Mitchell Clinton: Coach Paul Maurice said that Michael Hutchinson and Steve Mason have been cleared. Hutchinson will back up tomorrow. The Jets reassigned Eric Comrie.
