Montreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber could be done for the season.
On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

Blue Jackets PR: Defenseman Dean Kukan is expected to be out for four weeks with an upper-body injury that he suffered over the weekend.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James: Defenseman Mike Green missed another game because of his upper-body injury.

Helene St. James: Red Wings GM Ken Holland wasn’t planning on qualifying goaltender Petr Mrazek at over $4 million, so instead of losing him for nothing, they got some draft picks for him.

Nick Cotsonika: GM Holland: “I don’t believe in massive rebuilds.” They will keep some veterans around to help out the young guys that they will slowly move into the lineup.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette: Defenseman Shea Weber has been out since December 16th, and it’s unlikely that he returns to the lineup this season. Coach Claude Julien said that Weber was comfortable with his rehab and they don’t plan on bringing him back to the lineup unless he’s 100 percent. They have 23 games left, and it doesn’t make sense to rush him back.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Elliotte Friedman: The Senators put Gabriel Dumont on waivers.

Pierre LeBrun: Dumont has another year left on his deal at $650,000. The Senators claimed him off waivers from the Lightning earlier this season.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Adam Kimelman: Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds will be out for two to three weeks with an upper-body injury. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth will be out for four to six weeks with a lower-body injury.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Jonathan Dombulie: Both Patric Hornqvist and Tom Kuhnhackl weren’t at practice yesterday with lower-body injuries.

Pens Inside Scoop: Coach Mike Sullivan said that Patric Hornqvist is “making progress” and they are hopeful that he’s able to return to practice soon.

On the Washington Capitals …

Elliotte Friedman: The Capitals put Taylor Chorney on waivers.
